The one thing we can safely say is that all our birthdays have been backed by very enthusiastic and daring mums! The kind who want to break away from the typical themes and ideas…. and for us that is a huge bonus!
Like this latest party we did, was a picnic party. We found a beautiful location, the Mini Clubhouse at the Turf Club and the timing was great because the light Mumbai winters had just started to settle in.
It was a simple affair in terms of the decor… but what mattered (and what I love the most) was the detailing…
To start with we took red and white checks as the print and color of the whole party.. obviously!!
We had custom-made blankets laid out around the venue with cushions… and a little picnic basket on each blanket filled with bubble makers for the kids to play with along with hula hoops and pinwheels.
We also had a host who played old school games with the kids like sack race, lemon and spoon race and had a small treasure hunt. basically the kids got a chance to really just run around the venue with the warm sun against their little faces! Something I feel a lot of kids these days need to be pushed to do! And the best part was the kids who won got medals!!!
For the older kids we had a huge trampoline and for the really small ones we had a constant bubble machine that kept them excited!
We had game booths with games like hit the cans, toss the ball into the bucket, bowling and toss the ring on food and juice items!
But the highlight of the party were the pre packed snack boxes. We had custom designed stickers for all the food items and packaged everything while the party was on so that it was all nice and warm when served up! Sandwiches, rolls, salad and brownies with wooden spoons and forks wrapped up in a red tissue napkin… veg and non veg stickers on each… and fun “dig in” sticker on each box!
While all the kids loved them… what warmed my heart was when adults came by to tell me how sweet the snack boxes were!
